DIY How to Eliminate Toxins and Strengthen the Self

The Endocrine System is the series of glands that includes our thyroid, adrenals and pituitary glands; their job is to release different types of hormones into our bloodstream. When released, these hormones roam our cells and help regulate our growth, our sexual development and our metabolism. Adequate endocrine function is necessary for proper development and overall health.

If the glands of our endocrine system are repeatedly disrupted, our bodies may react negatively. Disruptors can block hormone receptors, change the output of normal levels or stop the flow of hormones altogether. Disorders and diseases such as sluggish metabolism, fatigue, hypo and hyperthyroidism, infertility and diabetes have all been linked to a disruption of the endocrine system.

Endocrine disrupters are synonyms for toxins, and unfortunately for us, we live in a toxic world filled with chemicals, pollution, over medication, processed foods, stress and depression. The biggest defense we have against these disrupters is to life a healthy lifestyle free of artificials and stress. But, is it really possible to live a toxic free lifestyle when there are toxins all around us? The answer is yes, below are a few simple tips to eliminate toxins and strengthening the Endocrine System:

  1. Ditch Petroleum: Petroleum is one of the biggest endocrine disrupter we are faced with; escaping it completely might be difficult because it the stuff is everywhere and seemingly in everything.  Read beauty product labels and use only all naturals, avoid products containing mineral oils and burn soy candles instead of petroleum based. Instead of plastic water bottles, use glass or stainless steel bottles and microwave in plastic containers less often.
  2. Clean Toxic Free: Clean with earth safe products that contain low to zero VOCs. Use earth safe paints and varnishes in your projects and freshen your air with eco alternatives.
  3. Breath Clean Air: For proper endocrine function it is important to breathe quality air. Quit smoking and clean the air you breathe naturally with fresh plants, opened windows and Himalayan sea salt and activated charcoal.
  4. Eat Better: The world is filled with over processed artificial food that rob our health and suppress our bodily functions.  Adopting a diet that is rich in whole grains, fresh fruits and veg and plenty of water will strengthen our immune system and combat invading toxins.
  5. Exercise: Exercise encourages healthy circulation, boast mood, enhances energy levels and builds stronger organs
  6. Stress Less: Stress is extremely bad on the endocrine system, stressing releases negative hormones that interfere with the function of the endocrine system. Unfortunately for us, we live in a world filled with negativity and disappointments, so there will always be stress. The trick however is not to avoid stress, the trick is to better deal with it. Practicing relaxation techniques, meditation, yoga, dance and laughter are great ways to deal with stress.
  7. Detox often: Internal detoxification refers to the process of eliminating toxins from the body.

Our skin, kidney and our digestive track are our internal cleaners. However, the level of toxins that we are faced with daily are forcing our cleaners to work harder than they should which results in a toxic build up, which results in poor  endocrine function. Detoxing does not  need  to be a huge ordeal. Simple things like drinking more water, increasing fiber intake and eating more raw foods will help the body get rid of toxins.
